Cleaning jewellery

• I recently ran out of my jewellery cleaner and was desperate to clean my jewellery, so I went to TipKing to look for an alternative cleaner. From the tips given, I chose the ammonia cleaning tip, mainly because I had it in the cupboard.
  
  I was astounded at the results ... brilliant !!
  
  I will never buy jewellery cleaner again.

• The ammonia works great, especially on earrings -- mine tend to get gunked with hairspray. Toothpaste and water also works.
  
  Either one can damage pearls, though. A drop of shampoo in water wiped on pearls, then wiped off with a soft damp cloth helps keep them clean.
